Ports play a crucial role in the energy transition. What are the future prospects for adapting ports to meet the demands of tomorrow? Which scenarios are being considered in relation to supply and demand, including economic and geopolitical developments, environmental and societal factors, technology, and supply chains? What role will ammonia play in the energy transition, and how are port stakeholders collaborating on the development of ammonia and e-fuels such as e-methanol and e-SAF?
In partnership with the Port of Rotterdam, STC Next has delivered a range of programmes focused on the energy transition, with a particular emphasis on green hydrogen. The port management programme brought together various stakeholders from Oman in a collaborative initiative. These participants represented government organisations or entities closely linked to the Omani government.
Public-private collaboration is a critical success factor in projects of this nature. STC Next played a coordinating role by bringing stakeholders together, facilitating connections, and aligning shared objectives. Similar training programmes were delivered in cooperation with the Port of Rotterdam in Egypt (2024) and Morocco (2023).
