Dynamic Positioning Revalidation
Keep your NI DP certificate current
This course meets the updated Nautical Institute revalidation requirements effective from January 2024. You will refresh your knowledge of the latest DP regulations, sensor technology and operational procedures. The training combines theoretical instruction with assessment on a DP bridge simulator. After completion, your NI DP certificate can be revalidated for the next period.

General information
Nautical Institute requirements for revalidation of NI DPO certificates are changed as per January 2024. As per January 2024 in addition to completing sea-time days* the DPO should either;
• Complete a NI-accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for the required number of years as well as taking the NI CPD Revalidation Exam or
• Complete the DP revalidation course at an approved training facility.

The course and instructors are accredited by the NI in London.

During the Dynamic Positioning Revalidation course our experienced instructors cover the following theoretical topics:
latest regulation and guidelines
latest developments regarding sensors and positioning reference systems
relevant DP incidents and their cause
alarms, alerts and information messages
risk assessments, operational planning and identification of danger
configuring the DP for specific tasks
actions to be taken as a consequence of system errors
Afterwards you take an online exam at the Nautical Institute and a practical exam on the DP bridge simulator. After a successful completion of both exams you can have your DP certificate be converted to a revalidation by the Nautical Institute.
