Understand DP systems and your role on board
This two-day course provides a foundational understanding of Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems and their operation on board vessels. You will learn the basic principles of DP, including position reference systems, sensors and computer-controlled station keeping. The training combines classroom theory with hands-on exercises on individual DP simulators. After completion, you have the knowledge to decide whether to pursue the full DP Operator certification.

Algemene informatie
Dynamic Positioning (DP) is a computer system to keep the ship in position and on heading by means of the proper propellers and thrusters. Position reference systems in combination with wind, motion and heading sensors, provide information to the computer. This is necessary to keep the position and heading caused by external forces, such as wind and current, as small as possible.
During the practical hands-on course you will obtain basic knowledge of Dynamic Positioning systems. The course is a combination of theory and simulation exercises on individual simulators.
This course is not a part of the DP Operator training scheme of the Nautical Institute.
